The permanent committee of the Supreme Court-dissolved Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) held a meeting in Lowell, Massachusetts, in the US on Monday to prepare for the return of “acting president” Sam Rainsy to Cambodia. Sam Rainsy claimed on Thursday that his attempted return to Cambodia in November 2015 was cancelled after he received a message from the US embassy that he would face a situation “out of control”. A government statement on said legal action would be taken against former opposition leader Sam Rainsy should the Supreme Court request it, if he were to return to Cambodia.

He claimed that Mas will follow procedures by appearing in court and not abscond.
