Prime Minister Hun Sen said on Thursday that “acting president” of the Supreme Court-dissolved Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), Sam Rainsy, is responsible for the divisions in his party by being “the poorest of leaders”, as the opposition figure again reached out to the EU.

Prime Minister Hun Sen on Wednesday hit back at claims he paid between “$100,000 and $200,000” to former Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) officials to request political rehabilitation. He said they were not “goods for sale”. Prime Minister Hun Sen  ordered authorities to take legal action against former opposition party members taking part in politics without filing a request to have their political ban lifted.

Five more former Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) senior officials were granted political rehabilitation on Tuesday, a day after they submitted requests to the Ministry of Interior.

Another of the original 118 senior Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) officials banned from politics was granted rehabilitation by Acting Head of State Say Chhum on Monday, as more politicians submitted requests.
