Prime Minister Hun Sen last week issued a letter to officials that seemed to reveal concerns that changes in the political situation at the grassroots level in Cambodia could cause risks for his usual mechanisms for maintaining control and power. Interior Minister Sar Kheng also called on the public to ignore former opposition party rhetoric, comparing the now-dissolved party’s “positive change” message to the Khmer Rouge.

Interior Minister Sar Kheng has vowed to implement deep reforms in the national police in a move to cope with complexities of crimes in the Kingdom.

Interior Minister Sar Kheng yesterday encouraged the National Police to attend additional training in order to deal with complex crimes such as money laundering and terrorism.
