Kep provincial governor Ken Satha blamed the lack of a construction law for the deadly building collapse in Kep city earlier this year, which took the lives of 36 people, including children, and injured 23 others. His statement came amid continued demands for justice and compensation from survivors and families of the victims.

General Him Yan, deputy chief of the National Police, has informed all the commissariats of national police over the Kingdom to temporarily pause fining the vehicles with expired vehicle inspection certificates until further notice, as the inspection center could not provide the certificate to plenty of vehicles on time. Lieutenant General Chhay Kim Khoeun, a spokesman for the National Police, said over 9,000 riders and 2,000 drivers have, since May 1, been issued with traffic fines for violating traffic laws. The violations ranged from failure to wear safety helmets and seat belts, driving with no license plates, disregarding the traffic light, exceeding the speed limit and so on. The National Police said traffic police have fined over 17,000 motorists caught violating road traffic rules and regulations since the sub-decree on heftier traffic fines was imposed on May 1.
