US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy R Sherman is slated to visit Cambodia as
part of her first multinational tour linked to her attendance at the special
ASEAN-US Foreign Ministers’ summit to be held on May 25, according to the
US’ top diplomacy agency.
The UN in Cambodia recommended that the government scale up the social
security system towards providing universal coverage and make it more
responsive to shocks, focus on emergency response and emergency preparedness
for large-scale outbreaks.
In his first speech since taking office in May, the UN’s newly appointed
special rapporteur to Cambodia, Vitit Muntarbhorn, raised concern over a new
law creating a national internet gateway and over any form of control over
media or online access.
