Unsustainable growth and lack of effective client protection in Cambodia’s
microfinance sector have increased borrowers’ debts and led to the
confiscation of their land when they can’t repay loans, according to a
report by two Cambodian human rights NGOs.
NGO staff members are posting photos of themselves online in a social media
campaign calling for the release of arrested environmental activists.
Thousands of Cambodian migrant workers signed a petition to seek help for
their emergency situation of having no money for food or medical services
during the Covid-19 pandemic.
