The Phnom Penh Court of Appeal heard the case of the former spokesman and representative of the Khmer National Liberation Front (KNLF) who was sentenced to seven years in prison on November 11, 2020, accused of conspiring with the former CNRP President Sam Rainsy to stage a military coup.

Phnom Penh Municipal Court sentenced union leader Rong Chhun and two others to between two years and 20 months in prison for inciting people against the government. A prominent Cambodian labor union leader who is a longtime government critic was sentenced Wednesday to two years in prison for inciting social unrest with sensitive comments about the country’s border.
Rong Chhun, president of the Cambodian Confederation of Unions, has been in custody since July 2020 after the government claimed he spread false information about Cambodia’s border with Vietnam.
