Two senior members of Cambodia’s opposition Candlelight Party have been arrested ahead of the Senate elections to be held on Feb. 25, as a further three Cambodian refugees were detained in Thailand ahead of a visit by Prime Minister Hun Manet.
The Executive Chairman of the Candlelight Party (CP) in Kampong Thom province, Sorn Sokheng, is suing the president of the National Power Party (NPP), Sun Chanthy, over fraudulent use of party donations totalling over $50,000.
The lawyers representing the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) considers Son Chhay, Vice-President of the Candlelight Party, in his recent interview with the media to be politically motivated and undermine the CPP’s legal rights.
