Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia, requested that the Cambodian authorities cooperate with the Vietnamese authorities in researching the composition of TikTok social media players who use the Vietnamese language to comment on his video. Senate President Hun Sen proposed drafting a law against people who claim that Cambodia did not experience a genocide and wanted to start a “color revolution”. A political analyst has said the law would further shrink citizens’ freedom of expression in relation to historical events.
The government reassured that it will not turn the country’s Funan Techo Canal megaproject into a regional or international issue as it is solely initiated by Cambodia.
Prime Minister Hun Manet said that the government will continue to expose the scammers involved in the scandal surrounding Brilliant City World Co Ltd, owned by former tycoon Leng Channa, and ensure resolution of the people’s issues.
The government has established six regional operation centres under the National Information Technology Center (NITC) to research, collect, and analyse information related to national security, focusing on combating terrorism and crime across the country.
