General Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaffar, chief of the Malaysian Defense Forces, said he has proposed that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim contact the prime ministers of Thailand and Cambodia for permission to allow Malaysian teams to enter the conflict zones in both countries, along with ASEAN Observer Teams (AOT). A seven-nation Interim Observer Team (IOT), led by the Malaysian Defence Attaché to Cambodia and joined by resident and non-resident defence attachés from Brunei, Indonesia, Laos PDR, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Vietnam, has inspected potential sites in Preah Vihear province for the establishment of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) office.  The Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ministry has reported to the UN Security Council (UNSC) of a “growing risk” to the ceasefire agreement and that it presents an extremely fragile truce between Cambodia and Thailand. https://bit.ly/4fQJEoX; China expressed support for Thailand and Cambodia in resolving their border dispute and offered to provide assistance based on the wishes of both nations, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Aug 14.
