Cambodia’s Defence Minister General Tea Seiha is leading a high-level delegation to Vientiane this week to strengthen regional defence cooperation and boost joint disaster response efforts at the four-day Cambodia–Laos–Vietnam (CLV) Defence Ministers’ Meeting.
Police arrested a man named Liu Haoxing, said to be the manager of a building in Kampot which housed an online fraud operation, and two other men, Li Xingpeng and Zhu Renzhe, who are allegedly connected to the kidnapping and torture of 22-year-old South Korean student—identified as Park Min-ho. He was found dead near Bokor Mountain at 2am on August 8.
After the public took to social media to criticise Phnom Penh Municipal Court’s verdict on 61-year-old Hun Heng, who killed one person and injured five others, the Justice Ministry said it would file an appeal, citing the need to uphold law enforcement and public order amid growing criticism of the judiciary.
Cambodia has reiterated its unchanging position that it “does not possess and does not lay new anti-personnel mines”, despite Thai attempts to convince global media outlets that mines it discovered — in historically heavily mined disputed territory on the border — were freshly laid.
