The anniversary of the Paris Peace Accord, which set Cambodia on a course towards democracy 27 years ago, was met with little celebration, CSOs reevaluated the meaning of the agreement in the wake of an election widely deemed unfree and unfair.

The Garment Manufacturers Association in Cambodia (GMAC) has called on the European Union (EU) not to suspend trade preferences for Cambodia, saying that any sanctions may spell adverse impacts on the lives of workers and their families. Cambodia's garment exports grew by 10.73 percent in the first half of 2018 and are projected to remain strong despite a European Union threat to withdraw duty-free trading access, official data showed . Cambodia exported $3.2 billion (359 billion yen) worth of garments in the first half of this year, compared to $2.9 billion for the same period last year.
