In a joint statement issued on May 25, the NGOs, including Amnesty
international, Reporters Without Borders, ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human
Rights and Human Rights Watch, said they noted that in recent months the
government had warned against public criticism of measures put in place to
control the spread of the coronavirus. the statement had alleged that the
government has prevented independent journalists from covering Covid-19
cases and condemned those who criticised the vaccination campaign.
