Thousands of Cambodian migrant laborers are returning home from Thailand following a second outbreak of the deadly virus there over the past week, and aid groups are warning of food shortages among long jobless workers.
About 20 monks and nuns gathered in protest in front of their Phnom Penh pagoda to stop earthworks on a plot they claim belongs to them, pointing to orders from the Council of Ministers and a deputy prime minister.
An environmental group said large swathes of the Preah Monivong Bokor National Park in Kampot province were being cleared to make way for multiple development projects, with government officials saying the projects were approved after taking into account their environmental impact.
