A group of some 30 young people in Phnom Penh known as the “Rubbish Youths” have spent months removing litter from Chamkarmon district’s previously filthy Boeung Trabek canal and, finally, not only is the canal rubbish-free but local residents have changed their ways too.

City Hall will not allow the Cambodian Labour Confederation to stage a planned protest in front of the Labour Ministry today to demand a minimum wage for workers in the tourism, service and agriculture sectors. More than 100 tourism, service industry and agriculture workers gathered on Russian Boulevard in front of the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training on Monday demanding improved conditions as had been seen in the garment sector.
