Elections/National Election Committee (18th – 22nd September, 2023)
The National Election Committee (NEC) has ordered former opposition leader Sam Rainsy and other opposition seniors to pay 20 million ($4,876) Riels in fine over election violations.
Prime Minister Hun Manet has set May 26 as the date for the 4th municipal, provincial and district council elections. These non-universal elections will see voters from commune councils, who were directly elected by their constituents in 2022.
