The National Election Committee (NEC) said on August 1 that the CPP got 6,398,311 votes and FUNCINPEC received 716,490 in the 7th National Assembly election.
The National Election Committee (NEC) gave political parties 72 hours to lodge any complaints they may have to the body or the Constitutional Council (CCC). The National Election Committee (NEC) will release the official results of the 7th National Election on Aug. 5, at 09:00 am.
NEC said that half a million ballots were spoiled in the national election last month, which critics have called a sham as all opposition parties were barred from contesting.
The Constitutional Council of Cambodia (CCC) upheld a ban on two Candlelight Party officials from running for elected office for ten years for inciting spoiled ballots. They will also have to pay a $2,400 fine each.
