Three political parties have so far applied for registration of parties and lists of candidates to participate in the Capital, Provincial, City and District Council elections on May 26. The Cambodian People’s Party seeks to field 8,618 full and reserve candidates in the capital and all 24 provinces, equal to 209 districts. The Khmer Will Party hopes to field 749 full and reserve candidates in the capital and two provinces, equal to 18 districts. The National Power Party is registering 427 full and reserve candidates to contest in the capital and one province, equal to nine districts.
The National Election Committee (NEC) has reviewed and approved the format for the lottery that will determine the ranking of political parties on the ballots for the forthcoming 4th mandate capital-provincial-town-district council elections.
