The World Health Organization (WHO) has advised Cambodians to practice
basic preventive measures during next week’s Khmer New Year, as the country
struggles to control the spread of the virus. The government has imposed
inter-provincial travel ban from April 7-20 in a bid to contain the spread
of Covid-19.

The Vietnam Youth Union (HCYU) has directly given 20,000 medical face masks
and 1,000 hand sanitizer bottles to the Union Youth Federations of Cambodia
(UYFC) of the ruling party. Cambodia is committed to consolidating its
long-standing relationship with Vietnam, Prime Minister Hun Sen said in a
letter congratulating the latter’s newly elected President Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

The Swedish government and UNESCO signed an agreement on “Strengthening
Media Development and Freedom of Expression” in Cambodia, with Sweden
contributing around $2.5 million to UNESCO for the project.
