During a meeting with the U. S. Secretary of State, Cambodia’s foreign affairs minister responded to the host country’s concerns of a deteriorating rights situation in Cambodia. The EU is set to spend more than €1.43 billion (over $1.5 billion) to implement the 2021-2027 Joint European Strategy for Development Cooperation with Cambodia, which focuses on six priority areas. The EU Delegation to Cambodia on May 16 met with the National Election Committee (NEC) to discuss the Kingdom’s voting process and other technical aspects related to the commune council elections scheduled for June 5.
