Rhona Smith, the UN Human Rights Council’s (UNHRC) Special Rapporteur for Cambodia, met with:

- A senior Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) official to learn about the agency’s methods and progress, and urged the government to step up its fight against corruption

- Minister of Planning Chhay Than to discuss Cambodia’s progress in implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), among other issues.

The U.N.’s rapporteur on human rights in Cambodia concluded her fact-finding mission by saying she hoped for a change in the country’s “aggressive” political culture.

UN Resident Coordinator in Cambodia Pauline Tamesis and Prime Minister Hun Sen held their annual meeting at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh to discuss social protection and opportunities for sustainable development, as well as the progress that had been made.
