Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Sen stated that the EU has poor relations with some of the members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), including Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Myanmar and the Philippines. He tried to explain his rule against detractors who claim that the government often acts to please certain foreign powers.

Following his decision last week not to evacuate Cambodians in China,  Hun Sen went  to the Beijing while not able to go to  Chinese city at the epicentre of a viral pandemic. Chinese government not granted permission by Chinese authorities. According to the Cambodian government, President Xi Jinping has reassured Prime Minister Hun Sen that China will continue to support the Kingdom’s economy. Chinese President Xi Jinping appreciated Cambodia's firm support to China's fight against the coronavirus epidemic, calling its Hun Sen's visit.

National Assembly president Heng Samrin assured United States Ambassador Patrick Murphy that the government is willing to address issues that both countries don’t see eye to eye on, in order to boost bilateral ties. Since taking office about five months ago, United States Ambassador Patrick Murphy has been working to improve relations between Cambodia and the US, which in the past has experienced tensions.
