A top official at the Ministry of Interior has instructed prison authorities across the country to conduct regular inspections of inmates and premises to protect national security.
Lawyers for Candlelight Party Vice President Thach Setha, who faces prison time for allegedly issuing bad checks, claimed prosecutors were relying on “fake” evidence during closing arguments at Phnom Penh Municipal Court.
The Prime Minister’s Bodyguard Unit was set up primarily to protect the Prime Minister and his family but its responsibilities have since been expanded to offer security and safety to visiting government leaders and international visitors.
