The Phnom Penh Municipal Court has postponed the March 9 hearing in the ongoing treason trial of former opposition leader Kem Sokha to March 16 – after a member of the prosecution returned a positive test for Covid-19.

Authorities in Cambodia’s capital Phnom Penh released around 200 workers detained a day earlier for “violating COVID-19 protocols” while demanding a resolution to their long-standing labor dispute, which had prompted condemnation from both the U.N. and Washington. An appeals court in Cambodia denied bail to eight union leaders from the NagaWorld Casino strike, on the grounds that their case is still under investigation by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court.

Phnom Penh Municipal Court continued the trial of former opposition leader Sam Rainsy and 41 others including Seng Theary. They were accused of disrupting social order.
