Three commune chiefs in Kampot province’s Teuk Chhou district have now
separately issued letters annulling their previous signatures on land deals
in the protected area of Preah Monivong Bokor National Park.

A commune chief in Banteay Meanchey province‘s Preah Netr Preah district
has denied an accusation hurled at him by some 800 families that he sold 120
hectares of flooded forest community land in the forest to a private

The general commission of the national police announced that more than
150,000 Cambodian migrant workers had returned from abroad in the first six
months of the year, both legally and illegally.

Phnom Penh Municipal Court has summoned three former senior officials of
the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) and a Cambodian-Australian
politician for questioning over a charge of incitement to commit a felony.
The Court also continued the trial of 13 ex-CNRP supporters and two women
youth activists, accused of causing social unrest during a protest calling
for the release of Rong Chhun, president of the Cambodian Confederation of
Unions and a member of the Cambodia Watchdog Council, from prison in the
capital last year.  This   court has convicted a former commune councilor
from the outlawed main opposition party of “incitement to commit a felony”
for participating in weekly protests demanding the release of other arrested
opposition party members, sentencing him to 18 months in prison.
