The Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC) has refuted recent claims of “declining human rights” in Cambodia which were made by six NGOs. The NGOs based their arguments on the dissolution of the former Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), as well as the failure of the Candlelight Party (CP) to register for the 2023 national election.
The Supreme Court rejected a request by Candlelight Party (CP) vice-president Thach Setha to release him from prison pending a Court of Appeal trial and decision regarding his case.
The Penal police in the Ministry of Interior started questioning Lieutenant General Kem Cheat, a former Ministry Undersecretary of State and Vice-Chairman of Cambodian Counter Counterfeit Committee (CCCC), over allegations he committed graft in 2021.
