The Cambodian government has transferred an imprisoned Cambodian American human rights advocate Seng Theary to a jail in Phnom Penh where she can more easily communicate with her legal team, according to her lawyer. She was relocated one day after the U.S. government told Prime Minister Hun Manet that it would reinstate $18 million in aid to Cambodia.

Minister of Interior Sar Sokha has urged the National Committee Against Torture (NCAT) to intensify their educational outreach and to expand collaboration with relevant authorities and organisations to bolster the respect for human rights and to tackle torture, cruelty and the degradation of societal ethics. He also has instructed governors of provinces bordering neighbouring countries to strengthen the control of border checkpoints to prevent human trafficking, labour exploitation, drug trafficking and illegal crossings.
