Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen defended the promotion of his three sons to senior positions in government and the military, citing their education and qualifications while Suy Dimanche, the son of the Minister of Mines and Energy, Suy Sem, has been appointed the ministry’s secretary of state.
Hun Sen has created a task force to deal with complaints from civil society groups over government suppression of their activities. Hun Sen told his ministers to ease pressure on labor union leaders after threats by the European Union to remove the Southeast Asian country’s duty-free trading access. He also has approved the establishment of a special task force to address the concerns of civil society groups, according to an announcement published on the Interior Ministry’s website on Monday.
