The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has reacted to the European Commission’s (EC) decision to partially suspend the Everything But Arms (EBA) scheme, saying it did not reflect the reality in Cambodia. Prime Minister Hun Sen reiterated that any factory closure or mass lay-offs in the upcoming months would not be a consequence of losing the EU’s Everything But Arms (EBA) scheme.

Prime Minister Hun Sen issued a circular urging officials at all levels to work more closely with the Cambodia Human Rights Committee (CHRC) to protect human rights in Cambodia.
The ministries of Information, and Justice, will complete reviewing the penalties section of the draft law on access to information by the end of this month at the latest.
