The government has set the criteria which must be met for long-term residents to be granted state property, and while civil society groups said it was a positive move, they asked the government to speed up the process of granting the land.

At a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Hun Sen the Council of Ministers approved a draft law on expanding the scope of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) to cover pensions.

Prime Minister Hun Sen dismissed the idea of creating a new “ministry of national security” by separating the National Police from the Ministry of Interior as the ministry was not an institution “without influence”.
