Prime Minister Hun Manet has clarified Cambodia’s position regarding future meetings with Thailand under the framework of the Joint Boundary Commission (JBC). He noted that a meeting scheduled for last month was postponed as the Thai side had not confirmed their attendance.
The Cambodia government condemned recent actions by Thai individuals who used portraits of Cambodia’s top leaders, including those of President of the Senate Hun Sen and Prime Minister Hun Manet, for disrespectful purposes. Senate president Hun Sen has suggested that the Royal Government and authorities at all levels track down and punish any corrupt officials or smugglers who import Thai goods into the country while the land border is closed. He warned that continued Thai imports could give Thai people the wrong impression, by suggesting Cambodians cannot survive without them.
