Fifty-seven national and international organizations on Nov. 2 issued a joint statement in which they ask the Cambodian government to put an end to journalist harassment in the country and repeal or amend laws that, the statement read, “unjustifiably impede media freedom and freedom of expression.

The Ministry of Information on Nov. 4 said that Cambodia adheres to the promotion of democracy, respect for human rights, freedom of the press and freedom to publish, adding that both local and foreign journalists can work without discrimination or intimidation.

The owner of a provincial radio station, Sok Oudom, maintained he had not incited villagers in Kampong Chhnang province against the military during his incitement trial, with a verdict expected on November 17.
