Minister of Information Khieu Kanharith told a press conference that the term “independent press” does not refer to media outlets that complain about the government. Rather, “independent” refers to a mindset of writing news without feeling pressure, he said.

The Union of Journalist Federations of Cambodia (UJFC) will commemorate its fourth year anniversary on August 8, 2020. Since its establishment, it has intervened to help local fellow journalists in court cases, by providing funding to sick journalist or families of those who died and representing media from Cambodia at regional and international forums.
