The Cambodia National Love Party was founded by former CNRP members Chiv Cata and Kong Kimhak in January 2020.The party has the fifth most candidates for the June elections, with 315 candidates across 18 provinces.

Former opposition party leader Kem Sokha and Prime Minister Hun Sen sat down to eat and talk while Sokha came to Kampong Cham Province on May 8, to pay his respects to Hun Neng, Hun Sen’s brother who passed away on May 5, at the age of 72. Prime Minister Hun Sen has lashed out at exiled former opposition leader Sam Rainsy for his disrespectful behaviour when the PM’s brother died last week.

Pal Kep, Koh Kong provincial Candlelight Party (CP) Commune Chief candidate, was summoned by the provincial court prosecutor for questioning over allegations by six Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) members for illegal activities. The Candlelight Party has accused a Russei Keo commune chief of tearing down a party banner in the capital.

Local authorities in Kandal province have denied a Grassroots Democratic Party’s (GDP) request for a debate on development policies between party candidates standing for the commune polls in the province’s Prek Sdey commune, Koh Thom district.

The ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) has denied the possibility of re-activating the “Culture of Dialogue” with the dissolved opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP). The speculation follows a meeting between Prime Minister Hun Sen and the CNRP’s former leader Kem Sokha recently.
