Suggestions by Sam Rainsy of a palace coup grossly overestimate factionalism in the CPP and underestimate Hun Sen’s power. Sam Rainsy has been slammed for saying it is a “stupid and disgraceful act of submission” for banned former Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) officials to request political rehabilitation.

Senior government officials yesterday slammed former opposition leader Sam Rainsy for comparing Prime Minister Hun Sen to the troubled Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

Prime Minister Hun Sen yesterday said his lawyers are preparing to file dozens of lawsuits against former opposition leader Sam Rainsy over his insults and will seek to seize his property as compensation.
