Seven more former senior officials of the court-dissolved Cambodia National
Rescue Party (CNRP) who were banned from participating in political
activities for five years have been given royal pardon.
The ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) called on more former opposition
senior officials to request for political rehabilitation after seven more of
them recently had their five-year political ban lifted, leaving former
opposition leader Sam Rainsy more and more alone.
Some political parties expressed concern over the organisation of the
upcoming Commune Council Election next year with the National Election
Committee (NEC) postponing the election testing process due to the community
outbreak of COVID-19.
