The ruling CPP issued a statement slamming the United States for criticizing the government over perceived political restrictions and calling for the release of former opposition leader Kem Sokha. CPP spokesman Sok Eysan  hinted at potential further strains in relations with the United States and European Union should the Generalized System of Preferences and the Everything-but-arms trade status be suspended.

Former CNRP senior advisor Kong Korm and the advisor to his son political party,  Khmer Will Party  on Sunday lashed out at the dissolved party’s former leader Sam Rainsy, accusing him of trying to destroy democracy in Cambodia and violating the Paris Peace Accords.
