The Candlelight Party, which has seen at least 11 commune lists disqualified in the past weeks, will compete in 1,623 communes across the country, according to a final list of commune election registrations released by the national election body. Candlelight Party candidates in a Phnom Penh commune alleged they faced pressure and bribery ahead of the party’s nominee list being disqualified by an electoral hearing — including three who admitted to taking gifts and signing onto a complaint against their own party. The Candlelight Party (CP) is seeking the intervention of Interior Minister Sar Kheng over harassment of its party workers.

The defence lawyer of fugitive politician Seam Pluk, founder of unrecognised Cambodian National Heart Party (CNHP), has requested the Phnom Penh Municipal Court to revoke the warrant of arrest and instead issue a warrant of summons for him to appear before the judge for questioning.
