Unidentified men harassing the wife of a jailed Cambodian political opposition figure have told her to defect to the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) to secure her husband’s freedom, sources in the country said.
The ruling Cambodian People’s Party blasted a statement by the court-dissolved Cambodia National Rescue Party which says the former opposition party supporters are “relying on US support” in respect to the implementation of the 1991 Paris Peace Agreements, promoting justice and democracy in the Kingdom.
A CNRP activist who distributed T-shirts saying “Thank you for peace, but respect Article 2 of the Constitution” was questioned in court as his brother railed that authorities “keep hunting down and persecuting people and do not allow them to live peacefully.”
