Two senior members of the Candlelight Party (CP) have quit the party and decided to join the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) expressing their disappointment with the CP’s leadership and its lack of support.
Cambodia’s opposition Candlelight Party announced it will join with three smaller parties in a political alliance that will aim to field candidates in the 2027 local commune elections and the 2028 general election.
19 non-governmental political parties are asked to form an alliance with the CPP, to challenge the new four party alliance led by Candlelight Party (CP).
The Candlelight Party calls on the authorities to release all Cambodian prisoners of conscience who are imprisoned so that they can be free to reunite with their families, especially on the occasion of Pchum Ben, a traditional Cambodian family reunion event throughout the country, respectively.
