The Japanese government will extend loan and grant totalling $72.72 million
for an ongoing water supply expansion project and the implementation of
socio-economic development programmes in Cambodia, according to the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a report submitted to the U.N. Human Rights Council, U.N. rights chief
Michelle Bachelet praised Cambodia\u2019s economic recovery policies and social
protection programs for vulnerable people during the COVID-19 crisis. The UN
Human Rights Council heard from Special Rapporteur Vitit Muntabhorn who
warned that democratic space in Cambodia has been lost to a politicized
judiciary run by an all-powerful executive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Assembly of Cambodia ratified the Regional Comprehensive
Economic Partnership (RCEP) which comprises 15 Asia-Pacific countries and
the bilateral free trade agreement (FTA) with China to boost trade and
investment.  National Assembly president Heng Samrin , in his letter sent to
Hon Li Zhanshu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National Peoples\u2019
Congress of the People\u2019s Republic of China (NPCPRC), on the occasion of the
72th anniversary of the foundation of the People\u2019s Republic of China (PRC),
outlined Cambodia\u2019s support of China\u2019s new political agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
